Description
With the popularity of ornamental grasses on the rise in recent years, they have quickly become a must-have for every garden. With so many exciting varieties in different sizes and colours, why not start a collection?
Festuca ‘Sunrise’ is a wonderful, compact grass that grows into a mound of blue-green, arching foliage. In late summer deep orange flowering stems rise above the leaves, moving beautifully in the breeze. Then, as autumn arrives, the ends of the leaves turn to a warm shade of copper.
An exceptionally attractive little grass, ‘Sunrise’ looks particularly good planted in groups in a gravel garden, or on its own in an architectural pot for a contemporary balcony or patio feature.
‘Sunrise’ will thrive in sun or partial shade and is completely winter hardy to -20°C as well as being drought tolerant. It needs no maintenance apart from the trimming of faded flower stems if you wish, but if left on the plant they give attractive winter interest, especial during a frost.

- Leave the flower stems on until spring - they look great in winter!
Care Information
- To plant, firstly water your potted plant well.
- Dig a hole a little deeper and 3 x wider than the nursery pot.
- Remove the plant from its pot and tease out some of the roots.
- Place your plant in the hole at the same level at the pot then refill the hole with the earth removed.
- Firm in the soil with your heel, avoiding the root ball and water well before adding a mulch around the base of the plant.
- Water regularly until established, but your Festuca will quickly become drought tolerant.
- Cut back old flower stems in autumn, unless you want to leave them in place over winter, in which case cut back in spring.

Smaller, lighter, single-item orders may be sent through the post with Royal Mail - in which case no tracking is available.
Our experienced nursery team will always send your plants nursery fresh in the perfect condition to thrive when you plant them, so although most plants are very tough and will not be affected by all but the most extreme frosts or heatwaves, we avoid dispatching the most perishable plants if extreme weather is forecast, or over Bank Holiday weekends.
