Product Information

An outstanding hydrangea with satisfying white-to-green flowerheads, which open and remain impressive for months of the year, from June to October.

Double white flowers open from green buds atop healthy, oak leaved foliage, and are so closely packed with florets they form an almost ‘spongey’ texture to the touch, and remain picturesque throughout summer, and into autumn.

Also known as the ‘Oakleaf Hydrangea’, the green leaves of this hardy herbaceous perennial transform in autumn, as they darken to bronze, with red hues, before falling at the start of winter.

The long stems of the florets last very well in a vase, making this variety perfect for cutting and placing on the windowsill or mantlepiece – so make sure to plant plenty to share with family and friends!

Unlike other varieties of hydrangea, once this plant has established, it will become tolerant to drought. For best results, make sure to grow in moist and well-drained soil, in either a sunny or partially shaded spot.

Supplied as an established plant in a 9cm pot, ready to plant out.

Planting Advice for Your Hydrangea:

  • Really low maintenance, this variety prefers compost-enriched soil that stays moist. It can be planted in sun or light shade, and will withstand drought once established.
  • Shrub roots generally tend to spread out rather than down, so dig a planting hole 3 x wider than the roots of the shrub you're planting and mix some well-rotted compost or manure with the soil from the hole and use this to re-fill one the shrub is in place. Use the best compost you can buy and some sand or grit for drainage.
  • Before planting, soak container-grown shrubs thoroughly and allow to drain. Then remove the plant from its pot and tease out a few of the roots.
  • Place your shrub in the hole at the same level at the pot.
  • Refill the hole with the earth removed (backfilling) and firm in the soil with your heel, avoiding the root ball, then water well.
  • Mulch around the base of the plant with a collar, compost, gravel, bark etc.
  • If you're planting into pots, place some old rocks, stones or gravel in the bottom of the pot for drainage and ballast.
