As the name suggests, the star quality of Sambucus 'Sutherland Gold' comes from the rich plethora of golden foliage and dissected leaves. Leaves glow with copper red shades in spring as creamy white flowers flourish in mid spring – perfect for summer blooms.
Elderberries have a red lustre, which develops in summer to help feed birds through the autumn. The continuous changes and developments is a real point of interest and can add rich variety to the garden.

This variety is known for being particularly bee and butterfly friendly, while also usefully deterring pests, such as rabbits. Ever-changing in appearance and with low maintenance features, it’s an investment that’s well worth making for gardeners of all levels.
