Hibiscus syriacus Blue, otherwise known as a 'tree hollyhock', is a versatile shrub that will add an exotic touch to your beds and borders with huge, dramatic flowers in late summer. It will also make a colourful and striking statement in a large container.
A late-flowering shrub, Hibiscus syriacus 'Blue' produces torrents of gorgeous violet-blue flowers from August to October, just when other shrubs are reaching the end of their flowering. The large, trumpet-shaped blooms, measuring 8-10cm across, are beautifully contrasted with darker centres and delicate, creamy-white stamens.
Hibiscus are good producers of nectar so will attract bees and other pollinators to your garden during their flowering season.
Being deciduous and fully hardy, these shrubs will lose their leaves in the autumn through winter, bursting into life again as the leaves appear in late spring.
Supplied as an established plant in a 3L pot ready to plant out. Reaching a height of 150–200cm and 150–180cm spread, plant them in the back of beds and borders where they have room to grow, or in a large container as a specimen plant for your patio or decking.
