Marvel at the outstanding plumes of green and white flowers that erupt in summer across these compact shrubs.
Each upright branch coats itself with cone-like white flowers for months, even repeat-flowering across the plant to hide the finely serrated green leaves from the height of summer until autumn is ready to begin.
The petals first emerge in a delightful lemon yellow, but evolve before long to a heavenly shade of cream as the season progresses. The blooms even emerge when the plants are still young, offering an impressive display in very little time.
These compact plants are able to thrive in smaller spaces and will behave themselves as they grow to look striking in your favourite pot on the patio or balcony. The straight stems are even ideal for snipping and including in a vase display.

To extend seasonal interest, leave some flowerheads on the plants over winter, where they will look gorgeous covered with frost and will provide shelter for overwintering wildlife.
Care Information
- These plants are at their best in moist soil as long as it is well-drained, in a sunny or partially shaded space.
- The more sun the plant gets, the better the colour. These are moisture-loving plants, so remember to water them regularly and deeply.
- These are hardy plants, but frost can cause damage to young buds, reducing the number of flowers, so protect your plants with fleece if freezing weather is likely.
- Pruning is generally best carried out in early spring. A general tidy-up is usually all that is needed and consists of removing the dead bloom from each stem, cutting back to the first strong, healthy pair of buds down from the faded flower.
- As hydrangeas flower on the previous year's growth, in spring cut out one or two of the oldest stems at the base to encourage the production of new, replacement growth that will carry more flowers.
