Product Information

The latest addition for your kitchen garden – ever popular runner beans! ‘Streamline’ is a heavy cropping variety that produces plenty of delicious runner beans for your dinner plate in no time at all.

Long, straight pods grow up to an impressive 45cm long from the plants, which themselves can stretch up six foot tall – so be sure to support the growth with canes.

What’s more, flowers start to emerge in a fiery shade of scarlet around a month or so after the runner beans have been planted, and just before the vegetables appear. These flowers are particularly attractive to bees and other beneficial insects. For best results, grow your beans alongside sweet peas to attract even more insects to pollinate, leading to even bigger crops!

Versatile and nutritious, young beans taste delicious when plucked straight from the plant and eaten raw as a mouth-watering treat, while the heavy crops can even be stored in the freezer for months.

Supplied as a set of 12 plugs, ready to plant.

Care Information

How To Grow Runner Beans:

  • Plant out 25cm apart, when frosts are over. Allow 45cm between rows. Provide poles or netting for plants to climb.
  • For best results, dig in plenty of well-rotted manure or garden compost before planting. Avoid planting if soil conditions are waterlogged or frozen.
  • Thin to leave the stronger plant.
  • Continue to water well until the plants have established.
  • Water regularly, particularly in dry weather, to maintain quality of crops.

To Harvest: July to October. Pick beans regularly to encourage further cropping.
