Product Information

This scrumptious pear variety produces large crops of elegantly long, tapering fruits with clear white flesh that are ready to pick from September each year. Each one is packed with an incredibly sweet, irresistible juice  you wont be able to stop yourself eating them straight from the tree! Try to save some for later, though, as they will make wonderful desserts for your Christmas parties!

'Concorde' is perfect for gardeners to grow because it is very heavy cropping and the fruit will keep for over 2 months when picked unripe.

It is self-fertile and grown on dwarfing rootstock so it will always be compact, reaching a maximum of 2.5-3.5m (8-12ft) tall within 10 years, and, of course, it can be pruned down to a size suitable for even the smallest of gardens!

Top Tips

  • Place your tree in a sunny position for the best crops.

Care Information

  • Plant fruit trees at their original soil level, firm them into the ground and water well.
  • Fruit trees grown in pots will need watering and feeding more regularly than those planted in the ground.
  • To avoid the roots becoming pot bound, re-pot every year or alternate years after leaves have fallen in autumn.
  • A good mulch will help to retain water and therefore reduce the need to water as frequently and will prevent weeds from competing.
  • Your pear tree will not need drastic pruning, just remove any crossing or damaged branches. Any lower branches can be removed if you want to give you a clear trunk. Otherwise in subsequent seasons cut back any strongly growing branches by one third to promote the formation of fruiting spurs.
