Product Information

A wonderful addition for season long colour, this collection of Clematis are the perfect choice of climbers for covering fences, walls and pagodas with a great range colours.
Growing well in gardens of all shapes and sizes, easy and robust you really won’t get it wrong when it comes to growing clematis. You can plant this clematis in the garden with certainty, for stunning displays for many years to come. Growing at a good rate for enjoyment year on year, just plant them anywhere where they can ramble - pergolas and arches or even old tree stumps are ideal - and you'll be rewarded with thousands of large blooms throughout the summer months.

In this collection you will receive:

  • Clematis 'Arabella' – Perfect for patio pots, this sun loving beauty will flower from June to September. The 6 narrow petals of purple-blue adorn each flower offering a fabulous display.
  • Clematis ‘Madame Julia Correvon’ – Flowering from mid summer until the first frost with dark red star-shaped flowers blooming all over the plant. A compact variety making it a great choice for pots and planters.
  • Clematis 'Piilu' – Enjoy two different kinds of flowers over the two seasons with this stunning variety. In spring, this colourful variety produces enormous double flowers, with deeper outer petals and ruffled inner petals in a pretty pink. From summer, 'Piilu' then adds to the profusion of flowers a second time but with single flowers giving lots of variety. Perfect for beds and borders.

Winter hardy and free flowering, they can pretty much be left to their own devices with just a light trim in late winter/early spring trim and a prune back in the summer after flowering.

Supplied as 3 established plants in 9cm pots, ready to plant.

Top Tips

Plant with the crown of the plant 5-8cm deep to encourage new shoots to grow from below ground level.
Clematis like a cool ‘root run’ so try and plant so that the roots are shaded. If you are planting in a sunny position, place some pieces of slate or flat stones on the soil after planting or use groundcover plants to keep the roots cool.

Care Information

  • If planting by a wall or fence - the hole should be dug approx. 30cm (12in) away from its base. If planting by a tree - plant about 60cm (2ft) away from the trunk leaning the cane of the clematis towards the support.
  • Dig a planting hole 3 x wider than the roots of the shrub you're planting and mix some well-rotted compost or manure with the soil from the hole and use this to re-fill once the clematis is in place.
  • Before planting soak container-grown shrubs thoroughly and allow to drain.
  • Remove the plant from its pot and tease out a few of the roots.
  • Add Mycorrhizal fungi to the roots when planting to help plants establish quicker.
  • Plant with the crown of the plant 5-8cm deep to encourage new shoots to grow from below ground level.
  • Refill the hole with the earth removed (backfilling).
  • Firm in the soil with your heel, avoiding the root ball
