Description

For a low-maintenance, high-impact flowering shrub, Philadelphus 'Petite Perfume Pink' is a fantastic choice. This compact Mock Orange produces masses of beautifully scented pink blooms, filling your garden with an intoxicating citrus fragrance for months.

Despite a compact size, this shrub packs a punch with dense clusters of star-shaped flowers, so is an excellent choice for borders or container gardening. Unlike its larger relatives, 'Petite Perfume Pink' stays neat and compact, so you don't have to worry about it taking over your space.

It's not just stunning to look at - it’s also a magnet for bees and butterflies. Whether placed near a seating area to enjoy its fragrance up close or planted alongside roses, lavender, or nepeta for a multi-sensory floral display, this versatile shrub always delivers.

Hardy, resilient to frost, and easy to care for, 'Petite Perfume Pink' requires little attention beyond an occasional prune to keep its shape, so is ideal for beginner and experienced gardeners alike.

Supplied as an established plant in a 3 litre pot, ready to plant.

Top Tips
Prune after flowering, in late summer and remove one in four stems down to ground level.
Care Information
  • Philadelphus thrives in full sun or partial shade. A sunny position will encourage the best flowering, but it will still perform well in dappled light.
  • This shrub prefers moist, well-drained soil but is adaptable to most garden conditions, including clay, loam, or sandy soil. Enrich poor soil with organic matter like compost or well-rotted manure.
  • Make a hole twice as wide as the root ball but no deeper than the pot it’s supplied in. This allows roots to establish quickly.
  • Remove the plant from its pot and gently tease out some of the roots. Place it in the hole so that the top of the root ball is level with the surrounding soil.
  • Fill the hole with soil, firming gently around the base to remove air pockets. Water thoroughly to help settle the soil.
  • Apply a 2-3cm layer of mulch (such as bark or compost) around the base to retain moisture and suppress weeds.

Ongoing Care:

  • Keep the soil moist but not waterlogged, especially during the first year while it establishes. Once mature, it is drought-tolerant but benefits from occasional watering in dry spells.
  • Philadelphus flowers on the previous year’s growth. Prune immediately after flowering (around July) by cutting back spent flowered stems to strong new growth lower down. Every few years, remove older stems at the base to encourage fresh, vigorous shoots.
  • Apply a general-purpose slow-release fertiliser in early spring to promote healthy growth and abundant blooms.
  • This fully hardy shrub requires no winter protection and will bounce back each year with a flush of new foliage and flowers.
  • Ideal for borders, cottage gardens, wildlife-friendly spaces, and patio containers, where its gorgeous scent can be fully appreciated.
Delivery Information

Please allow us 3-5 working days to dispatch your order. Pre-ordered items will be sent as soon as possible after the date quoted and we'll generally ship your entire order with your pre-ordered items. When your order is dispatched, we'll send you another email with details of how to track it.

Most orders are sent on a fully-tracked courier service with Yodel. To avoid perishable items being stuck at depots and deteriorating, no signature is required, and our courier is asked to leave your order in a safe place on your property.

We'll send a tracking link when we dispatch your order, so you know when its due to arrive. Please note, once delivered we cannot be held responsible for loss or theft from your property. If you have any specific delivery instructions, please let us know - there's an option to enter a short message for the courier at the checkout.

Smaller, lighter, single-item orders may be sent through the post with Royal Mail - in which case no tracking is available.

Our experienced nursery team will always send your plants nursery fresh in the perfect condition to thrive when you plant them, so although most plants are very tough and will not be affected by all but the most extreme frosts or heatwaves, we avoid dispatching the most perishable plants if extreme weather is forecast, or over Bank Holiday weekends.

Please note, we cannot guarantee delivery on a certain day or time. Delivery to outlying postcode areas may take 1-2 days longer, dependent on your location.
