Gladioli 'Purple Art'

• Aim to plant each bulb 10-15cm deep in fertile, well-drained soil in full sun with a little grit or sharp sand added to boost drainage.
• Gladioli need plenty of water to flower well, so if you can, dig in well-rotted manure or compost to the soil before planting to help retain water.
• Plant bulbs at twice the depth of the height of the bulb and four times the width apart. For example, a 5cm tall bulb needs to be planted 10cm below the surface of the ground and 20cm apart from others.
• They are fine to plant even if a little green growth is showing, they’ll just need a good watering when you plant them, and then only when the soil runs dry.
• While all the energy needed to grow is stored in the bulb itself, they will do better if you feed them when in active green growth.
• Plant in herbaceous borders, in pots, or leave in the ground to naturalise, potentially through grass for a great display.
• If planted in pots be sure to water frequently and keep moist.
• Be sure to check the bag for any additional planting instructions.

Most orders are sent on a fully-tracked courier service with Yodel. To avoid perishable items being stuck at depots and deteriorating, no signature is required, and our courier is asked to leave your order in a safe place on your property.

If you have any specific delivery instructions, please let us know - there's an option to enter a short message for the courier at the checkout.

Smaller, lighter, single-item orders may be sent through the post with Royal Mail - in which case no tracking is available.

Our experienced nursery team will always send your plants nursery fresh in the perfect condition to thrive when you plant them, so although most plants are very tough and will not be affected by all but the most extreme frosts or heatwaves, we avoid dispatching the most perishable plants if extreme weather is forecast, or over Bank Holiday weekends.
