Description

Colour, structure, and wildlife appeal, all in abundance! You'll adore the bold, daisy-like blooms of Echinacea 'Papallo Orange'. They flare out in rich, fiery orange with gently swept-back petals, each encircling a warm, dark-orange central cone. Flowering from July through to the first frosts, it keeps borders vibrant well into autumn, long after many other perennials have faded.

The tall, sturdy stems make this variety excellent for cutting, with blooms that hold their form and colour beautifully in a vase. In the garden, they stand upright without staking, adding height and drama to mixed planting schemes. Bees and butterflies flock to them in summer, drawn by their generous nectar supply, while seed-eating birds enjoy the cones later in the year, yet another reason to leave some of the final flowers standing.

Perfectly suited to cottage gardens, prairie-style plantings, or as a focal point in contemporary borders, 'Papallo Orange' offers versatility alongside its striking looks. It thrives in sunny spots with free-draining soil and, being a hardy perennial, will return year after year with very little maintenance.

With Echinacea 'Papallo Orange', you're adding a reliable, resilient perennial that's as good for wildlife as it is for your garden's style.

Top Tips
Cut back the stems of faded flowers to encourage more, or leave them on the plants to produce seed for your garden birds.

  • Remove the plant from its pot and tease out a few of the roots.
  • Place your plant in the hole at the same level at the pot.
  • Refill the hole with the earth removed (backfilling).
  • Firm in the spoil with you heel, avoiding the root ball.
  • Water well until established.
  • Echinacea are generally pest free, although young growth may be damaged by slugs.
