One of the most attractive and sweetly fragranced of summer flowers, this outstanding mix is supplied as heat-treated corms that are guaranteed to flower from the first season onwards.
Spires of luscious green foliage emerge from the ground for months, forming a base for a sea of colour to grow, including blooms of red, yellow, white, and purple.
The bounty of colourful flowers looks remarkable across the garden, particularly when used to brighten patio pots, or beds and borders.
Freesias can be left alone to overwinter in mild winters, and produce bigger and better displays in future years, or can be dug up and overwintered in a frost-free place. They thrive in pots in warm spots, or in well-drained soil, where they will flower in summer.
Supplied as set of 50 corms, sized 4/5.
In the garden
Freesias can be planted outside from April - May. Plant the corms straight into the ground, pointy end upwards, in a well-drained spot in sun or light shade.
When the plants are up and growing, they will benefit from a potash-rich feed.
For containers
Plant six bulbs, at 1-2 in deep. Use a good quality compost with a little extra grit for drainage.
Water regularly and keep them moist (but not soaking) and shaded at all times – a cold greenhouse or conservatory is ideal.
Once the corms start to sprout, move the pots into full sunlight and keep watering. When the buds show colour, you can bring them indoors.
After flowering cut off faded blooms and continue to water and feed until the foliage begins to brown, then cease watering.
A period of at least eight weeks of growth is required to encourage offsets. If growing on for a second year the foliage needs to dry off by early July
Please allow us 3-5 working days to dispatch your order. Pre-ordered items will be sent as soon as possible after the date quoted and we'll generally ship your entire order with your pre-ordered items. When your order is dispatched, we'll send you another email with details of how to track it.
Most orders are sent on a fully-tracked courier service with Yodel. To avoid perishable items being stuck at depots and deteriorating, no signature is required, and our courier is asked to leave your order in a safe place on your property.
We'll send a tracking link when we dispatch your order, so you know when its due to arrive. Please note, once delivered we cannot be held responsible for loss or theft from your property. If you have any specific delivery instructions, please let us know - there's an option to enter a short message for the courier at the checkout.
Smaller, lighter, single-item orders may be sent through the post with Royal Mail - in which case no tracking is available.
Our experienced nursery team will always send your plants nursery fresh in the perfect condition to thrive when you plant them, so although most plants are very tough and will not be affected by all but the most extreme frosts or heatwaves, we avoid dispatching the most perishable plants if extreme weather is forecast, or over Bank Holiday weekends.
Please note, we cannot guarantee delivery on a certain day or time. Delivery to outlying postcode areas may take 1-2 days longer, dependent on your location.
