Description
Even ideal for beginner gardeners, Choisya Ternata is a stunning shrub that doesn’t require extensive gardening knowledge to grow. Also known as Mexican Orange Blossom, this variety boasts a delicious citrus scent and delicate star-shaped flowers in spring, bringing a sprinkling of celestial magic to the garden.
Thriving in full sun, this versatile shrub sparkles whether grown in borders or raised beds. It’s fast-growing and produces an abundance of blooms, bringing height to displays of up to 8ft tall. Keep the shrub compact with just a light prune - it'll respond very well!
Holder of the RHS Award of Garden Merit, it’s an outstanding plant. Alongside the citurs orange scent that drifts from the flowers, the dark green leaves are also aromatic, releasing a fragrance reminiscent of basil when crushed.
Supplied as a pair of established plants in 9cm pots, ready to plant.
Top Tips
Prune in early to mid-summer after flowering. Only trim if you want to keep the shrub compact.
Care Information
- Can be planted all year round but for best results plant before winter so the flowers can become adapted to colder weather
- Plant in fertile well drained soil in areas of full sun that are sheltered from winds
- Dig a hole that is the same depth of the pot and plant your Choisya Ternata into it
- Water occasionally, increasing to regularly in hotter months due to dryer soil.
- Annually in spring, mulch the soil around the plant with compost
- Apply fertiliser if soil is lacking in fertility

Smaller, lighter, single-item orders may be sent through the post with Royal Mail - in which case no tracking is available.
Our experienced nursery team will always send your plants nursery fresh in the perfect condition to thrive when you plant them, so although most plants are very tough and will not be affected by all but the most extreme frosts or heatwaves, we avoid dispatching the most perishable plants if extreme weather is forecast, or over Bank Holiday weekends.
