Description

What could be better than the sweet heady fragrance of a Daphne in your garden?

A superb alternative to the popular 'Eternal Fragrance', but will also look fascinating planted alongside it, providing you with flowers for months on end, even up to the early chills of autumn. Perfumed blooms are produced in abundance from April until October, year after year. This is a compact and slow-growing variety, so is perfect for smaller gardens or for growing in a container on the decking or patio.

One of the remarkable things about this beautiful semi-evergreen is that, rather unusually for a Daphne, it produces flowers on new growth, so the lovely pink blooms just keep on coming right through summer. Grow it in a pot and place it on the patio or near a garden path so you can fully enjoy the delightful scent.

Supplied as an established plant, approximately 20cm tall, in a 13cm nursery pot. This grows to an eventual height and spread of roughly 90cm.

Top Tips
  • Grown for their beautiful and intensely fragrant blooms, daphnes are best planted near paths and doorways or at the front of borders where it is easy to enjoy their delicious fragrance when in flower.
Care Information
  • Plants will thrive in a sunny or part-shaded location in fertile, well-drained soil. They don't like dry roots, so water regularly and deeply.
  • Daphne will establish best if planted in the spring when the soil is warm – March/April and Sept/Oct.
  • Dig a hole twice the width of the rootball. Sprinkle in a handful of blood, fish and bone and work into the ground.
  • If your soil is heavy, add plenty of well-rotted compost to the area and dig it in well. Horticultural sand/grit added to the mix is also beneficial.
  • Place the plant into the hole, backfilling so that it is at the same depth as was in the pot. Fill around the rootball and firm the soil down gently but firmly.
  • Water well.
  • Grafted plants should be planted with the join a couple of centimetres below the soil level.
  • Where necessary after flowering, lightly trim to remove misplaced branches and maintain a compact habit; otherwise, a quick clear-up of fallen leaves will suffice.

Delivery Information

Please allow us 3-5 working days to dispatch your order. Pre-ordered items will be sent as soon as possible after the date quoted and we'll generally ship your entire order with your pre-ordered items. When your order is dispatched, we'll send you another email with details of how to track it.

Most orders are sent on a fully-tracked courier service with Yodel. To avoid perishable items being stuck at depots and deteriorating, no signature is required, and our courier is asked to leave your order in a safe place on your property.

We'll send a tracking link when we dispatch your order, so you know when its due to arrive. Please note, once delivered we cannot be held responsible for loss or theft from your property. If you have any specific delivery instructions, please let us know - there's an option to enter a short message for the courier at the checkout.

Smaller, lighter, single-item orders may be sent through the post with Royal Mail - in which case no tracking is available.

Our experienced nursery team will always send your plants nursery fresh in the perfect condition to thrive when you plant them, so although most plants are very tough and will not be affected by all but the most extreme frosts or heatwaves, we avoid dispatching the most perishable plants if extreme weather is forecast, or over Bank Holiday weekends.

Please note, we cannot guarantee delivery on a certain day or time. Delivery to outlying postcode areas may take 1-2 days longer, dependent on your location.
