Planting Advice for your Lewisias:

• Grow on plug in post of well-draining compost for 4-6 weeks before planting out.
• If planting in the garden border, spread a two-inch layer of grit on top of the soil and dig it into the top six inches to improve drainage.
• Dig a hole roughly the same diameter as the pot your plant is in.
• Remove your Lewisia from its pot and tease apart any roots which are spiralling round.
• Lower the plant into the planting hole and backfill with the original soil, gently firming it around the plant.
• If you’re growing them in a container, ensure that the container has adequate holes for drainage. Most alpines like a neutral or slightly alkaline soil.
• Add a well-draining compost mix and plant as above.
• A layer of coarse gravel on top of the soil will help prevent the neck of the plant getting too damp.
• Water well.

Aftercare Advice for your Lewisia:

• Once you’ve planted your Lewisia, water it thoroughly.
• Remove or trim any dead leaves in the autumn.
• Move the container to an area that’s in a 'rain shadow', such as beneath house eaves, for winter.

We'll send a tracking link when we dispatch your order, so you know when its due to arrive. Please note, once delivered we cannot be held responsible for loss or theft from your property. If you have any specific delivery instructions, please let us know - there's an option to enter a short message for the courier at the checkout.

Smaller, lighter, single-item orders may be sent through the post with Royal Mail - in which case no tracking is available.

Our experienced nursery team will always send your plants nursery fresh in the perfect condition to thrive when you plant them, so although most plants are very tough and will not be affected by all but the most extreme frosts or heatwaves, we avoid dispatching the most perishable plants if extreme weather is forecast, or over Bank Holiday weekends.
