Product Information

Tulameen is a great garden variety, not too vigorous, yet fruiting late in the summer season in July and August producing incredible bright red sweet fruits.

You will get around a pound of fruit or more per cane for 4-5 years. Tulameen will fruit on the full length of the virtually spine-free canes you receive so do not prune them down when you plant them!

Fully deserving its coveted RHS Award of Garden Merit, you can be sure that this is a proven garden performer, guaranteed to be suitable for UK gardeners at every level of experience. You can therefore plant this in the garden with confidence, for stunning displays for many years to come. Raspberry 'Tulameen' is also recommended by the RHS as a 'Plant for Pollinators' and is a favourite with butterflies and bees.

If space is at a premium, grow them in large pots in a wig-wam form it will look great and produce massive amounts or fruit in the minimum of space! Otherwise, plant in rows about 60cm (2ft) apart, using supporting wires for easier fruit picking.

Supplied as an established plant in a 2L pot, ready to plant out.

Top Tips

When planting, add mycorrhizal fungi to the plating hole to encourage improved root establishment and better crops.

Care Information

Planting Advice:

  • Plant roughly 50cm apart in rows, along walls or fences or in beds where further support from posts can be used.
  • They can also be grown in large pots (40cm+ diameter) on your patio, balcony, terrace and more.
  • Select an appropriate spot for your plants, making sure that you give them enough space to grow to their full size.
  • For best results, plant in a sunny but sheltered position.
  • Roots generally tend to spread out rather than down, so dig a planting hole 3 x wider than the roots of the plant and mix some well-rotted compost or manure with the soil from the hole and use this to re-fill once the raspberry is in place.
  • Before planting soak container-grown plants thoroughly and allow to drain.
  • Remove the plant from its pot and tease out a few of the roots.
  • Add Mycorrhizal fungi to the roots when planting to help plants establish quicker.
  • Place your raspberry in the hole at the same level at the pot.
  • Refill the hole with the earth removed (backfilling).
  • Firm in the soil with your heel, avoiding the root ball and then water well.
  • Mulch around the base of the plant with a collar, compost, gravel, bark etc

Aftercare Advice:

  • Keep plants well watered and tie in any long canes to supports.

Top raspberry cane pruning tips:

  • Summer-fruiting varieties crop in July on last year's growth, so when their season finishes, cut down the fruiting stems.
  • New shoots will soon emerge, and next year's fruit will be produced on these one-year-old, ripened canes.
  • If you would appreciate fresh raspberries over a longer season, grow at least one summer and one autumn variety of raspberry bushes.
